Billboard research

Today I did some billboard poster research and these two stood out to me as I thought they were quite bold and they stood out and would look good on a large poster such as these. I would like to make something similar for our film so that it is just as effective as how these two posters look. In both of the posters there is a large image of the main character which takes up a lot of the space on the poster.

I would like to have a large photo on the billboard which is just as clear quality as the one of billboard with a background which is not too distracting. For example I would like the idea of there being a cloudy background.

Film Poster Research

As I am doing the film posters I thought that it would be important to do some research on other film posters before I created my own.

As I can see from the film posters they all have the title in the bottom section of the poster and are all in a white font and actually quite simple, but also the text is quite large and bold - this helps the title to stand out from the rest of the poster. And the title also falls on a darker section of the poster than the rest of it which therefore makes the white pop and stand out even more. If the title was not this bold then it would be hard for people to read it if they were further away.

The credit section is at the bottom of the poster with all of the production companies and so on. This is very small and it is actually very hard to read what it says therefore I will make sure that on our poster this will also be small and not take over the whole poster just as these examples have done.

Some of the main actors and characters are displayed in the top of the Avengers poster, I really like the idea of this, however we do not have any famous actors within our film and therefore if I did this then I would probably just display the main actress and the director in small font on the poster somewhere.

This is the picture which is displayed on the poster and it actually relates to the title of 'The Broken' therefore making the photo relevant. The image is also very clear and good quality and looks smart. I will make sure to make ours have the same effect.

Marketing Campaign

To market our film in the most successful way possible we have taken many different approaches to ensure it is promoted correctly to our target audience. Listed below are the different ways we are promoting our film:

Below- the line -marketing:

- We will be using Social media to target our secondary target audience young adults this is because many of them use social media so if we have social media accounts like twitter, facebook and instagram ,this will be free advertising that we can use to capture their attention on wanting to watch the film.

- Radio & press interviews are free advertising which we will be using to promote the film to our target audience sand also not necessarily our target audience but are interested in the film therefore causing a bigger profit of viewings.
- Email Marketing.

Through-the-line marketing:
- We will use Ads on the main channels on freeview for example channel 4, ITV. This is so it will reach our target audience of the middle age category, this could also possible attract other audiences that are not our target audience and therefore boost our viewings because it will be driving direct contact with new customers.
- Magazines will be a good way to promote our film because especially women still read magazines and if there is a page in the magazine dedicated to our film this will catch their eye, we thought this would be the best way to promote to this target audience because they may not use social media as much as the younger generation

Above-the-line marketing :
- Billboards are above the line marketing and we will be using this for passing by on lookers such as people getting on public transport on their way and from work. The reason we choose this type of marketing is because our target audience is the middle age and intellectual so will most like to work in the city which means they will be using public transport to commute to work

Delusion Interview

Audience Feedback

I have written down the average comments in which we were given from the viewer feedback below:

What went well:
- There was a large variety of shots and a large variety of distances within the film - however to improve a high shot could be added, but other than that all the shots were included.
- Mise en scene was very good and the objects added to the effect.
- The order of the actual shots were good and made the story more clear.
- The sound was good - for example the sound of the heels at the beginning and the end.
- A lot of enigma codes created from the story and from the voice over at the end.
- Best shot was the match on action where the hood was lifted to reveal the characters expression when she saw her dead body.
- The story line was clear.
- The transitions were basic - however they do fit the genre and the theme of the film.
- The ambulance sound was good at the beginning and catches the viewers attention.

To improve:
- Some of the shots were shaky and fuzzy (however this was because of an effect added on and we were able to fix this)
- Train station doesn't link top much.
- The title 'Delusion' could be in a more interesting font in the title sequence.
- Some parts confusing.
- Lighting not great in some of the shots.
- Voice over gets boring after a while.
- The music at the beginning needs to be improved.
- Not too much editing.

After getting this feedback our group went back to try and improve upon as much as we could that was mentioned in the evaluation and we felt was necessary to change. For example, we made sure to go back to the same location and get more filming and more shots so therefore it would not be as confusing and flowed more well. Seeing as the audience liked the mise en scene of the objects which were on the floor from the accident we made sure to get some more shots of the objects laying about on the floor. We also made sure to refilm some of the shots where the lighting was not very good so it would make the film look more professional. Harrison and Chris went back and added more to the editing to make it better. We also fixed the film where it was fuzzy and got rid of the effect that made it look like this. After doing all this it definitely improved our final film.
