Rumours (preliminary task) feedback

Highest total score: 45/50
Lowest total score: 20/50

Genre - Teen, Drama, Romance, Rom Com
Teen was the actual genre which we tried to portray, however, we had a large amount of opinions on what the genre was. The genre was not meant to be a romance in anyway, however, I can see why people may have assumed that it was a romance from looking at the stereotypical teen movies, where romance is a featuring theme. Therefore if we did it again I think that we would have to make sure that it was clear that there was not meant to be a romance featured and it was just purely on a friendship basis.

Preliminary task

This is my preliminary task, called Rumours, made by Aaron Hunt, Ella Overson and myself.

pictures of preliminary task

The four pictures below show Aaron, Ella and I working as a team in our preliminary project. We worked really well together and were a good team and each had individual roles. Me and Aaron's roles were to act in the performance and Ella's role was to film the whole thing. We all played an important part in the making of our film 'Rumours'. We then all contributed to edit the task at the end of filming.

The pictures above and below show me and Aaron looking at the footage Ella had recorded.

The picture below is Ella testing out how to use the camera.

The picture below is a picture of our whole group, which includes, me, Ella Overson and Aaron Hunt.

Juno storyboards

Below are my story ards which were used for the filming of our Juno project. As you can see there are 24 different shots in our filming, which actually made it quite challenging to do, but in the end made it look a lot better.

Th

Juno Task

Our Juno task was to film the opening of the film Juno for the first 1.05 minutes. In my group  was Joe Kiff, Chris Page and myself. I feel as though we all worked well as a team to get this task done, but during the task we did experience some difficulty. This included going on to private property, in which we did not realise was private property, so therefore we got notified. As well as this we did not have detailed enough pictures drawn on our storyboard, therefore it was confusing when we started filming to know exactly what we were doing in these shots.

Apart from this I think we all worked extremely well and all had certain jobs and completed the task in a good way. I was the main character, Juno, Joe Kiff was also featured in the film in some parts, for example, there was a running scene in which he was in. As well as this, Joe also helped to film and direct what I should do. Chris was the main filmed and did well to capture all of the shots well.

Greystone Manor

Above is my PowerPoint for the film in which I created which was called Greystone Manor. The genre of the film is a horror and is for cultural intellects. I actually found it quite hard to be able to link a horror with the target audience of cultural intellects because they are not often who I would expect to be watching a horror film.

Pete Fraser

Pete Fraser

'It's important to understand the 'aggregation of marginal gains'. Put simply.... how small improvements in a numbers of different aspects of what we do can have a huge impact to the overall performance of the team.' Dave Brailsford
In the video clips which are created you tend not to think about the little details, however all of them add up and they end up getting you better marks.
There are 9 steps you can take which will eventually get you better marks, these include:

Step 1: take stock
- What's the task?
- What's the assessment?
- What's the timeframe?
- What's the equipment?
- Build up skills
- Build up your research
- Build up your planning
- Give yourselves time to shoot and edit
- Keep evidence throughout the whole process

Step 2: Set up a blog
 - Keep evidence of everything that you do

Step 3: Build up skills
- Sound
- Camerawork
- Editing

Step 4: Investigate
- What do film openings actually look like?
- What does other student work look like?
- What do you need to know about titles?
How are you going to do something that stands out?

Step 5: Brainstorm ideas
- Possible sceneries for pitches/treatments
- 25 word pitch
- Moodboard treatment
- Peer and teacher feedback
- Realistic expectations (keep it simple)

I found Pete Frasers talk extremely interesting and I liked how he taught us how to get a good grade and how to do well in media. He got us to think about ways to do well in media by asking a lot of questions throughout the talk. The 9 steps which he told us about is a really successful way to get good grades.
